Mom And Dad

I’m going to do something a little bit different today. You know, sometimes I just get a little tired of hearing the same old stuff and hearing people complain about how bad America is. I’m here to tell you that as a Black man, oh, did I mention that I am a Black man? A lot of people are surprised to hear that but I’m a mixed race Black man. I’ve got Black, White and Latino.

So we’re all mixed up with a whole lot of things. So when you’re mixed up like that, it’s hard to be angry at any one race because America is a great place to live and somebody in my family has contributed to some pretty good things. When you’re mixed up with everything I’m mixed up with, family kind of has a little hand in a whole lot of things so I’m grateful to the country that we live in.

I hear people walking around complaining that they didn’t have a daddy at home. They didn’t have this so they’re pissed off at somebody else because their daddy left them some money and and maybe yours didn’t leave you squat. Well mine didn’t leave me a damn thing either. As a matter of fact, my daddy wasn’t even around and neither was my mother.

So, I know how it is but you know what? Don’t be pissed off at America because you kind of had a rough start or because nobody gave you a damn thing. Nobody gave me a damn thing either. Well, that’s not true. I did get a few things but if you’re going to be pissed off at somebody, be pissed off at your daddy.

Be pissed off at that guy (your daddy). Be pissed off at the one that wasn’t around like my daddy wasn’t around. My father stopped around maybe every three or four years or so. He might stay a day and he was off. My mother was in and out of mental institutions or either getting picked up by the cops. So I got raised by relatives. Thank god I had aunts, uncles, cousins. I had people around but I’m not pissed off at America. I’m pissed off at my dad.
