If your overseas you get state and federal back , they take it out but you get a 3rd check a month , still got to pay Medicare and social security

idk about now but in the 90s my dad had to pay for his uniform too

I’m no expert here but depending on the branch, everybody gets 3 or 4 uniforms initially issued free. Officers pay some percentage.

Actually, I was OK with the money myself as I recall. Prior to the Army, I made $2.00 per hour working PT at Jack n the box.
