California public animal shelters are now providing free pets for veterans to adopt. This offer is limited to the adoption of dogs and cats only. Senate Bill No. 245 reportedly allows adoption fees to be waived to qualifying veterans.
Qualification includes a valid driver license that displays a military marking, DD-214 or your veterans medical card. This bill reportedly waives the adoption fees but not other additional costs. Other cost could include fees for licensing, spay, neutering or microchipping.
