My Life - Reggie

I grew up in “The Hood”/ South Central Los Angeles, California. My father came to visit once every 3 to 5 years and my mother was in & out of mental institutions. Thank God for relatives that raised me.

Until I joined the Army, life for me was at a stand still. In 1968, one of my cousins was killed in action just days before he would’ve completed his 2nd tour of duty in Viet Nam. I carried forward some anger issues that I’ve been able to better deal with when I go camping. The military was the turning point in my life and camping in the great outdoors helps me sort things out.

Now me and my wife (married 48 years) camp and travel between California and Florida. Depending on weather conditions or my stress level, we usually do more glamping than traveling. She won’t usually do the tent camping but she loves the 27′ RV travel trailer that we call Ruby. We’re living retirement our way.

Over many decades, I’ve probably spent too much time working. Probably dedicated too much time to work, even during the holidays. My wife would often tell me that not all money is good money. Time is one thing I’ll never get back. Now, we go camping.
