Quartzsite, Arizona, is a legendary destination for tent camping, RV campers and outdoor enthusiasts during the fall, winter and spring months when the desert weather is mild. Because of it’s massive Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land, it is one of the largest gathering places for boondockers (dry campers) in the world. Here are the most popular activities campers enjoy in Quartzsite.

1. Rockhounding, Gem and Mineral Hunting. Quartzsite is world famous for it’s rocks, minerals, gems and fossils. Campers often head out to nearby desert areas, hills and washes to search for agates, quartz crystals, jasper and geodes. What the F is a geode? Even outside of the major show months, local claim owners and rockhounds scour the area for unique geological specimens. There’s allot of stuff happening in Quartzsite.

2. From January through February, Quartzsite transforms from a quiet desert town of a few thousand residents into a city of over a million people. The Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show has a reputation for being the largest event of its kind in the world.

3. Off-Roading (OHV, ATV and UTV Riding) with hundreds of thousands of acres of open desert and rugged mountains surrounding the town, off roading is a primary pastime.
