a 70-year-old veteran's journey to the ultimate campsite.

Arizona is a great destination for off-grid tent camping. Millions of acres of public land are open to citizens for free. Undeveloped camping is often referred to as dispersed camping or boondocking. Quartzsite, Arizona is one of many dream destinations for off-grid tent camping and RV camping activities especially during the winter months. November through March when the weather is wonderful, Quartzsite is the place to go.

Free camping on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land is one of the best kept secrets for road-trippers, RVers and backpackers in the United States. BLM land is heavily concentrated in the Western United States. If you’re east of the Mississippi River, BLM land is practically non existent. There is National Forest land and the US Army Corps of Engineers land out East. You’ll find the lions share of BLM land in Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, California, Colorado, Oregon and Montana.
