Inside A Travel Trailer

While travel trailers also feature slide-outs, they’re sometimes more narrow. Slide-outs add significant weight (often 300 to 1,000+ pounds). Towed trailers must manage tongue weight and GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) carefully. That constrains how massive or deep manufacturers can make a slide mechanism without overloading the axle The ceiling height is generally lower and the overall volume of space feels a little more confined. Traditional travel trailers are designed to be lightweight for towing. To save weight, manufacturers often use laminated press board cabinetry, vinyl flooring and lighter, multi-functional furniture. I’ve had a Class-A and a Travel Trailer. My wife prefers the Class-A. I prefer the Travel Trailer. Retired Veterans who like to travel and go camping have tough choices to make.
